January-March Newsletter
Here at Jayker Nursery, we are silently enjoying the quiet winter days allowing us to get caught up on a season's worth of "put off" projects while also gearing up for an anticipated busier upcoming season.
In keeping with this season, we wanted to share with you one of our favorite Jayker grown evergreens, the Skyrocket Juniper. This low maintenance evergreen is one of the most popular upright junipers because it is perhaps the most narrow of any conifer, getting only between 3'- 4' wide. The thread-like foliage holds a bluish green color year round, creating a striking contrast to most lower-growing plants in the landscape. Due to its extremely narrow habit and rapid growth rate, it is often used as a windbreak, or in cluster plantings to provide a screen where little space is available.
Although the Skyrocket Juniper will deter deer while also handling pollution and poor soils of varying pH levels, it simply will not flourish in water-logged soils or areas of low light.
